Up until 20 minutes ago I had no clue about how to create a blog. Anyone reading this will probably think I still have no idea. Anyway, my wife and I are about to enter a new phase of our lives. I turned 60 this past spring. My wife, Sandy, is a couple of years behind me. I've decided to take early retirement even though everyone we talk to, except our daughter, tells us we're nuts. When I wake-up in the middle of the night I tend to agree with them. You see, not only are we taking an early retirement, but we've sold our house in Maryland where we were both born and raised and will be relocating to Wisconsin to live nearer our daughter. Before that, however, we will travel for 6 months or so in our small RV. Who knows, it may end up being longer then that.
As of Friday, October 13th, we will be without a permanent place to call home since we were married 35 years ago, on September 11th. While this may sound very exciting, and it really is, it's also plenty scary. This next month will be filled with a lot preparation, storing personal belongings, forwarding mail, notifying family and friends, and last but not least giving my notice at work on Monday. I anticipate more of the same reaction, "are you crazy?". I'll probably agree with them, but we're going anyway.
I wanted to start a diary to keep track of this for our benefit later in life as well as for our daughter, Kelly, who has been our biggest supporter during the decision making process.
Stay tuned, as I have no idea how all of this will work out.
